Live Dungeness crab, a West Coast delight, is caught along BC coast and is available year-round. The meat of the Dungeness crab is sweet, with a delicate texture, and is delicious hot or cold. Serve plain boiled crab with garlic butter, cocktail sauce, or sweet chili sauce, or try one of our recipes. Crab makes a great party feast: digging the tasty morsels from the shell is part of the fun!
Buy live crabs to prepare yourself, or ask us to boil them for you. We keep our pot boiling until 5 pm every day. We can also clean your cooked or live crabs. Cleaned raw crab must be cooked the same day.
Our crabs range in size from 1 ½ to 2 ½ lbs. 2 lbs is the average size and is an ample entrée for one person. For a side dish, appetizer, or as part of a seafood feast, allow ½ a crab per person.
Keep live crabs in the fridge until you are ready to cook them. Do not put crab in fresh water – it will kill them. If you aren’t cooking them right away, open the bag for air circulation and cover them with a damp towel or damp newspaper. Kept cold and damp, crabs can live out of the water for 24 hours. Cooked crab will keep for 3 days refrigerated.
